For exam¬ ple, selling tickets to various activities, or having mem¬ bers guide parents around the school on parents night. Usually at the beginning of the year the club sells items to cover expenses, such as field trips, or any other activ¬ ities that might occur. DECA Mr. Bordonaro: Advisor Nancy Corcoran, Robin Kibbe, Sharline Kehoe, Patty Dodd, Gail Beaupre. Distributive Education identifies a program of instruction which teaches marketing, merchandis¬ ing, and management. DECA identifies the program of youth activity relating to D.E. — Distribitive Education Clubs of America — and is designed to develope leaders for marketing and distribition. The advisor is Mr. Myette. Computer Club Math Club Advisor: Miss Duffy The computer club meets once a week to learn how to operate the computer and rudiments of program¬ ming in the various languages. Students from the math club participate in the Capital Area Math League with an emphasis on the “fine points and proofs. Chess Club Advisor: Mr. Hopkins The Chess Club was organized this year primarily as an activity to pass the time while students are waiting to use the computer. A lively chess tournament was also held. A member should be willing to help plan and carry out programs because the main purpose of this club is to develop leaders and to learn about governments in action. It ' s made up of five commit¬ tees: Assembly Committee, Athletic Association, Cus¬ toms and Traditions, House and Traffic Committee, and the Red Cross Committee. The Club ' s activities in¬ clude among other items, an annual fishing trip, a trip to the Eastern States operated fish hatcheries. Advisor: Mr. Chernik Ecology Club Advisor: Mrs. Heard 101 103 The Gymnastic Club is for girls and boys who have an interest in gymnastics. There are different levels for different skills. Each level concen¬ trates on their own routine, using une¬ ven bars, balance beam, and floor ex¬ ercises. Composi¬ tions must meet cer¬ tain requirements but at the same time must demonstrate the personality and skill level of the indi¬ vidual gymnast. Two girls and two boys from South Windsor who have shown leadership and inter¬ est in school government are chosen by their classmates from a group selected by a faculty committee to attend the American Legion spon¬ sored Nutmeg Boy ' s and Laurel Girl ' s States. Ev¬ ery year students and cheer¬ leaders gather round a huge bonfire to cheer the teams on to victory. Porgy Tirebiter ' s Surprise Birthday Party Senior-Get-Together Traditionally the Senior Class welcomes all Freshmen at the Senior-Get-Together. This year all underclassmen were invited to attend Porgy Tirebiter ' s Sur¬ prise Birthday Party. The se¬ niors provided three and a half hours of music, entertainment, and refreshments. The big event of the night was the selection of the Freshman Queen. Sue Lacy was crowned queen. 135 Bells Are Ringing On March twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh, and April third and fourth, the Music Department pre¬ sented its third annual musical, Bells Are Ringing.
