South Windsor, Connecticut SOUTH WINDSOR is tobacco fields plowed in rich red rows; New England churches with white bell towers and oak trees in the yard; It is irises bursting in the springtime; field workers simmering in summer; leaf heaps piled in fall; and fir trees burdened in winter. country Lanes; and picturesque mills; SOUTH WINDSOR is historic houses and It is tobacco sheds South Windsor is squat, old libraries with meager shelves and 3 brisk, brick post offices with a bright flag flying; It is a lazy river flowing South Windsor is a growing community; and busy sprinklers spurting across the fields; it is a town of traditions on the PATHWAY TOWARDS PROGRESS. 4 H ITH SINCERE GRATITUDE, We the class of 1968 dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Paul T. BordonarO. Since he joined S.W.H.S. in 1965, his cheerfulness and concern tor others have made him an unofficial advisor for students of every class. As we became Juniors, he was asked to undertake the position officially, and the enthusiasm and willingness to help with which hr assumed this responsibility have indebted us to him. His was the spirit which carried us from prom preparations to prom clean-up; his were the energies which helped us turn a sea of gold tobacco netting and a roll of plush red wallpaper into an elegant Viennese ballroom and, two days later, his were the energies which helped us fold away tables and clear the hall of basket after basket of pastel flowers. Oh, no! It is a state of being. Youth seems to misunderstand this at times of confusion and chimes ring out from wrong directions and youth is subject to correction from elders whose authority is sometimes not respected, for reprimand is not effected in youth’s early years and harsh words only bring tears when youth stands alone and confused. Sometimes he is used in his naivete when the rocky way is made opaque by fog which takes its toll on youth as does the wind and rain. The mariner will tell you this; nature brings joy as well as pain. How is vouth to survive this life ✓ of salt and honey, day and night? Yes, he can try to fight the wrong and make it right. But this does not apply to everything that tries his patience and his happiness. Youth must learn this: to accept the joy and pain as two that complement, as does the salt and honey, false and true to let experience guide the way through a life not black or white, but gray to compromise and to accept his Father’s command— and then, Youth will be man.
