AD ASTRA PER SAPIENTIA (To the stars through wisdom)-our school motto encourages us to seek the heights of the physical and metaphysical world through the paths of knowledge and by-ways of experience, culminating in the summit of wis¬ dom. It also reminds us of one of the chief faculties of the spirit of man-the in¬ tellect. Our school is a veritable rock of knowledge where the best facilities are provided for us to attain our intellectual goals. The most important of these are our teachers, who ably guide and direct us along the road of trial and error. AD OMNIA PER AMICITRAM-is the counterpart that should be added to the rule of striving to learn. This is the other main faculty ofsqphe rational being, namely fl the will. Through the mind we know; through the will we love. Love has many grades and degrees. Its common exhibition in human relationship is that of friend¬ ship. In the modern world the stress and urgency is to cultivate the intellect and neglect the culture of friendship. Here in our institution WbTare fortunate in the fact | t 4 ' ■ 1 that our instructors tend to mold the whole man. Yes, we are educated men, but we % are also real human beings with a heart. In the turbulent world of today that is not a choice but a need. The Centurions of ancient Rome were united in a love for country, for valor, for truth. Their greatest link was the bond of friendship which they had for each other. The same be said primarily of our administrators and teachers. What an atmosphere to enter for those waiting in the wings of the various junior high grades to join us! What a stage to play in various parts for us who are in school! What pleasant memories for those who have left us! To all things through friendship - let us add not only to our motto but to our daily life.
