TRATION FAREWELL MR. WOODMANSEE ’’Bonne Chance! we say to a leading educator who has spent a fruitful life time devoted to children; to a fearless pioneer who has directed the South Windsor School System to its supurb heights;but most of all to a dear friend who found time for the young and the old, the great and the small. Au revoir we will miss you. Mr. Plotkin Asst. Superintendent of Schools School Superintendent, Mr. Merle B. Woodmansee, submitted his resignation to take effect September 1, 1964, the date he will have completed 38 years service in public education. Mr. Woodmansee said, It is my intention to apply for teacher re¬ tirement. In 1925, fresh out of Brockton Mass, high school, he started teaching in a one room school in Preston. In 1929, Mr. Woodmansee graduated from Williamantic. From 1928 to 1931 he was a teaching principal at the four room Dublin School in Colchester. He moved up to a six room school, Edison, in Trumbull in 1931, still as a teaching princi¬ pal and stayed there until 1935. In 1937 he graduated from Central Connecticut State College and in 1945 he received his M.A. at the University of Connecticut. Mr. Woodmansee began as superinten¬ dent for South Windsors schools March 1, 1944.
