It also reminds us of one of the chief faculties of the spirit of man-the in¬ tellect. Our school is a veritable rock of knowledge where the best facilities are provided for us to attain our intellectual goals. The most important of these are our teachers, who ably guide and direct us along the road of trial and error. AD OMNIA PER AMICITRAM-is the counterpart that should be added to the rule of striving to learn. This is the other main faculty ofsqphe rational being, namely fl the will. Through the mind we know; through the will we love. Love has many grades and degrees. Its common exhibition in human relationship is that of friend¬ ship. In the modern world the stress and urgency is to cultivate the intellect and neglect the culture of friendship. Here in our institution WbTare fortunate in the fact | t 4 ' ■ 1 that our instructors tend to mold the whole man. Yes, we are educated men, but we % are also real human beings with a heart. In the turbulent world of today that is not a choice but a need. The Centurions of ancient Rome were united in a love for country, for valor, for truth. Their greatest link was the bond of friendship which they had for each other. The same be said primarily of our administrators and teachers. What an atmosphere to enter for those waiting in the wings of the various junior high grades to join us! What a stage to play in various parts for us who are in school! What pleasant memories for those who have left us! To all things through friendship - let us add not only to our motto but to our daily life. WORD CONTENTS Dedication. 3 Welcome Mr. Caruolo. 4 Administration. 5 Faculty. 6 Seniors.13 Activities.39 Social Events.55 Sports.63 Classes.74 C J, ' rom the hi tors As the second school year of South Windsor High School draws to a close, we, the editors of the CENTURION, feel that this book has recorded the many phases of life at South Windsor High School. In future years our many hopes, worries, joys, trials, and tribulations will be brought to mind as we skim through this memory album. It will serve as a link into the past and will enable us to look back upon an eventful year at S.W.H.S. The publishing of a yearbook is depen¬ dent upon the energy and creativity of many people. We wish to thank, in particular, Mr. Krawski, Mrs. Kibbe, Mr. Olsen, and all other faculty and students who have helped to publish this book. 2 Mr. Charles Sharos Physical Education Director of Athletics B. S., M. S. Springfield College The class of 1964 dedicates this yearbook to Mr. Charles Sharos- a man who not only has elevated South Windsor to great athletic acclaim, but a man whose energy has motivated others, whose char¬ acter is of the highest quality, and whose wisdom cultivates the indi¬ vidual. His personality radiates with fun and laughter, and he is a true friend to all, faculty and students. EDICATED TO Mr. Plotkin welcoming Mr. Caruolo to our school. ADMINIS WELCOME MR. CARUOLO Mr. Caruolo, new principal of South Windsor High School. To our principal, Mr. Fred Caruolo, we extend our welcome, promise our support and aid, and express our assurity that to¬ gether we will watch the respected name of South Windsor High School grow in dignity as it grows in age.
