14 --- BLUE AND YVHITE CLASS HISTORY In the autumn of 1927 we the class of 31 entered upon our High School career Our class started wrth an enrollment of 81 39 from the Moun ta1n Avenue 24 from Southern Aven ue and 18 non residents We soon decided to organize our class and at our first meetrng we elected the followrng officers Presr dent Donald Barto V106 President Francis King Secretary Ruth Tret bohl Treasurer John Bush The first last and only social event of our Freshman year was a Hal lowe en Party grven at the Commun rty House by the Parent Teachers Assocratron Many Freshman were actrve rn the varrous clubs home room programs magazine drrve athletrcs association dr1ve and athletics Several Freshman represented thc class rn the annual hrgh school Follies rn a playlet entrtled Lrtte Brother Sherlock Thrs was a year of new experiences but rn a few months we emerged vrc torrous from our first year at hrgh At the begrnnrng of the term 1928 29 our class agarn entered Old Hrgh wrth an enrollment of sixty seven several members havrng drscontrnued therr school work at the end of thc Freshman year We welcome our new tachers Mrss Lakrn Mlss Mosser Of these four Mrss Lerbensperger rs the only one strll teachrng here A class meetrng was held and the followrng officers were elected Presr dent Norman Wrlkrnson Vrce Presr dent Francrs Krng Secretary Ruth Tretbohl and Treasurer John Bush We selected green and cream for our class colors In a few weeks we lost ten puprls Among the socral functions of the year was a werner roast held at Sul fur Sprrngs This was enJoyed by all The annual P T A Halloween party was held and many of the class attended rt Grrls and boys basket ball teams were organized and Maxine Koch and Norman Wrlkrnson were elected captarns Home Room programs became quite actrve thrs year and many fine pro grams were enjoyd The annual mag STUDFNT COUNCIL azrne dr1ve was put on and many Future Salesmen were found rn our class On January 29 the class held a skatrng party at Mountain Beach The evening was spent rn srttrng on the benches The Sophomores partrcrpated rn a Natronal Flag Contest but we never heard of any member of the class takrng first place rn rt The class finrshed therr second term rn Old Hrgh wrth much more knowl edge and assurrty of success rn the future years September 1929 found forty srx Junrors registered for the third year elected as follows Presrdent Norman Wrlkrnson Vrce Presrdent Robert Bostley Secretary Ruth Tretbohl Treasurer Carmen Peterson The class showed excellent dr amatrc abrlrty rn the presentation of the Jun ror play A Bunch of Fun which was given May 27 The J unror Class was also well represented rn the Oper etta Jolly Tars given March 27 28 and rn the Hrgh School Follies grven March 5 6 Thrs was a year of social events for the Junrors At the beginning of the term the class held a werner roast at Death Valley Thrs was enJoyed by all who were present A Junror Senror Hallowe en Party was held Oc tober 25 at the Community House A skating party at Mountarn Beach was enjoyed by the class The Junror QCont1nued on page 219 STUDENT COUNCII The Student Council of South Wrl lramsport Hrgh School hrs recentlx been organred It rs composed of erghteen students who represent e rch of the srx grades rn the school Thesc students were nominated and elected by the student body At the first meetrng the following officers werc elected President Robert Bostley vrce president Crll Hall Secretary Ruth Tretbohl Treasurer Eleanor Brllman At present the Student Council sponsored the Actrvrtrcs Brnquet whrch was held Mry 19 at the Com munrty House Each member of the quet a uccess A large group attended thebanquet The number know whrcn drd attend has doubled lrst year s attendance All the varrous lrnes of extra curricula actrvrtres were stre sed rn the rnterestrng program whrch was arranged by the councrl THE GIRLS WELFARE CLUB Thrs club elected the followrng oific ers for the term Pr esrdent Margaret Young Vrce President Vrrgrnra MCGIHHISS Secretary Marthr Plank enhorn They had for therr accom plrshment the promotrng of the Wel fare of the Grrls of South Wrllrams port Hrgh School They also had an excellent motto whrch would be worth whrle for every rndrvrdu rl Manners are shadows of great virtues Mrs Stallsmrth and Mrss Schlegal super vrsed this club !
