Commencement Clio uq Ills ’Twas in nineteen twenty-seven That we entered public schools; Then our minds were in a turmoil, And we liked to play and fool. Looking upward at the Seniors, They seemed so very far away; All we could do was hope that we Might too be there some day. ’Tis in nineteen thirty-nine, That we enter into life; Again our minds are ill at ease- W e realize our strife. No school is now before us, No refuge for our need; We take a step into the world, And pray we may succeed. Irene Tust ’39

soujurtfA Like all Physics and Chemistry teach- ers, Mr. Leibenguth can usually be found in the laboratory, explaining a sciei-iihc law or theory to a student. Besides teach- ing science, it was from him that we learned the elementary principles of mathematics, when we were in junior high school. As a faithful supporter of our senior bake sales, Mr. Leibenguth consumed a great deal of the candy. Also, our sen- ior dances would not have been as gay without the lighting schemes which he supervised. The photography club, re- cently introduced to our school by Mr. Leibenguth, has proved itself to be an interesting and educational extra-cur- ricular activity. The senior chemistry class will never forget the enjoyable trips taken to the Franklin Institute under his guidance. It may well be said that he may be small in stature, but was always a big help to us. Although Miss Lesher teaches both h’story and health, she is more familiar ly known as the girls’ coach. She has made girls’ intramural basketball an in- teresting feature within the school, and has introduced hockey, which has also proved its worth. In our annual pageants, Mbs Lesher capably taught all of the dances to the students; thus helping to make the pre- sentations a big success. As chairman of the senior advisers, Miss Lesher has assisted us in the prep- aration of our card parties and dances, guiding us in order to make the affairs as jovial and profitable as possible. She has proved to be a friend in need, and her encouraging and helpful suggestions were no less than a boost to our class. Paqr Jou risen
