Chess is a game that must be played with care, intelligence. and craft. Patience, skill, and a well conceived and executed battle plan are basic equipment for the Chess enthusiast. The South Vllestem Chess Cluli is open to all senior high school students interested in a pastime now that will become an asset to them in the future. The Math Club was organized to solve problems that are not encountered in regular math classes. The club concerns itself with problems similar to those of the Math Contest and works with logarithms. geoinetric progression. algebraic pro- gession. and syniliolic logic. It meets each Wednesday after school at South Hanover Lanes. The club helps to teach good sportsmanship and the fundamentals of howling. Trophies are awarded to individual and team members at the annual banquet. Varsity Club few sir The purpose of the Varsity Club is to promote better athletic participation and sportsmanlike conduct. Members must letter in a varsity sport according to the school's athletic department requirements. Each member must be voted in by a two-thirds affirmative vote ofthe Varsity Club members.
