We weren't here long before we were initiated. Our girls were ready for a hard days work with men's overalls and jackets, work shoes and caps. We carried a sign on our backs with an odd nickname. Our boys made equally attractive ladies in their garb. During our freshmen year we lost four members: Ronna Melaand, Gary Lewis, William Hale and Robert Gobeli. The next year we became mean characters when we initiated the sophomores. We lost some of our shyness and two more members of our class: Ardith Rowland and Shelby Mau. When we finally entered our junior year we began to grow up. On November 20 and 21 we put on our class play. It was a three-act comedy entitled Gone With The Girls , under the direction of Mrs. Eastman. We had a barrel of fun putting it on and it turned out to be a big success. Our next big event was our prom held on May '7th. Wishing On A Star was the theme and we all danced to the music of Benny Ehr. Our Queen was Mary Jane Mahlkuch she, reigned with the King, Richard Larson, over the huge night of fun. This year we lost two more members of our class: Nancy Brecklin and Leonard Peterson, but we were happy to gain Shirley Krupke who transferred here from Orangeville. As seniors we took charge of the Homecoming activities, and our big project is the publication of our annual. We have gained one more new student, Rose Marie Smith, who has transferred here from New Glarus. We are all looking forward to graduation and the challenge it brings with it: however, we know we are all going to miss the good old 'days at SOUTH WAYNE I-HGH SCHOOL. ' .
