Cat. Homecoming 82 was one of fierce competition, ecstacy, and extremely high spirits. It all started when those ever-amazing cheerleaders and their sponsors devised an unforgetable Homecoming week. Monday was ghost day as well as poster day. Seniors and Freshman earned a first place for their talented efforts. Tuesday was pajama day: put those mustangs to sleep. Wednesday was no sweat day. Thursday everyone punked out for the Wildcats and Friday was the traditional old gold and black day. Crystal Dalton was crowned homecoming Queen, 1982 in Monday's coronation before the student body. Her court consist of: Seniors, Shelly Brown and Jami Malone, Junior, Lori Dowdy, Sophomore, Sheri Hisle, and Freshman, Debbie Jones. Thursday night every class worked hard to accumulate spirit points on the football field in class competition and then let off their steam at the bonfire immediately afterwards. The bonfire was proudly displayed by its makers, the senior guys. The seniors also earned the right to throw in the dummy. Finally after a week of fierce competition the Wildcats pulled together to cheer the football team on to a big 28-6 victory over those Fountain Central Mustangs. WAY TO GO CATS!!! At halftime Queen Crystal and her court posed for flashing cameras, the Juniors took first place in the float competition with Wildcats Munch the Mustangs, and the 1982 spirit plaque was awarded to the class of 1985. But that's not all! Saturday night was the annual Homecoming Dance. The theme. Sharing the Night Together, was well carried out by the student body and a special thanks for the dance goes out to Mrs. Conner, Mrs. Turchi, and the 1982-83 cheerleaders of South Vermillion High School. But an even bigger thanks goes out to the S.V.H.S. student body for making Homecoming 82 the huge success it was. (top left) Spook those Mustangs!!
