SENIOR HISTORY Motto: He who conquers first conquers himself. Flower: Carnation. Colors: Crimson red and royal blue. On August 27, 1937, 174 green Freshies entered the South Union High School. If one were to look back now, he would scarcely recognize the dignified Seniors of today as compared to John Brown's Little Indian Boys the first day of school. The first significant event of that memorable year was the election of class officers. Those who triumphed were: President .. e,eccc Betty Elsey Vice President . Betty Baker Secretary . . cce, c. Henrietta Jolly Try as we might, we could not get into the social whirl, this fact is clearly shown by our having only one social event which was the Get-Ac- quainted-Party held in the gym. By the end of the year however, most of us had taken an active interest in the various activities in the school. Sophomores! and oh how much better it was not to be called green, instead, we were now sophisticated Sophomores. Now it was our turn to chide the Freshies and we certainly did. The faculty was invited and many accepted the invitation-for who could resist the temptation to attend a party given by such an upright and honored class? ln addition to the party the Junior-Senior-Prom was held in the White Swan I-lotel, this was carried off with the usual form and dignity. That year we worked hard and were rewarded by the faculty. Our re- ward was-a new name! Seniors. There are but 96 left of the ones that started out with us, but what we lack in numbers, we have tried to make up in other things. For this year we had great prospects-judging from our class officers: President ss..........A...........,..,...,.......,....,.,... .....,........,.,..s........,. We have gone over hills of Basketball, Football and down through the valley of quizzes, examinations, and the criticism of the upper classmen. We must now depart from our beloved school to seek for new lessons in life. We must make room for the new ones that will take our places. So with sad hearts, we say-Adieu. BRIEF RECORD SPRING 2,
