Then on the misty mountains, beneath a frost-touched tree, in solitary splendor, paused a deer to gaze at me. For one brief, breathless moment he let me stand and stare; and then the mist around him swirled. He was no longer there. 0 4 mA1 WM .. PDINCIDAL DDIMCIDVr Everyone commend ' - us for the splendid work we are doing in the area of Outcome Based Education. It ' s important to understand that the real strength of South Summit High School comes not from material growth or from steel or concrete but from the unseen realities of the Hearts and Minds of the Faculty and Students that make up our High School. I believe that we are experiencing a big awakening in the area of Quality Education. Vour theme this year is SPECTRUM OF AN ERA. As the 1080s come to a close, along with it comes a new era of Hope, Success, and a promise of a new beginning, learning as we go, accepting the challenges as they come. We will always remember the Memories we have had here. May your future be full of happiness and success. y Dr. Mark S. Littleford Principal (SECDETADY 9EGDE1VDA V W Betty Gines is the best Secretary on earth. She knows our hopes, our aims, our sorrows, our virtues, and our weaknesses. By that intimate knowledge we are comfortable in her presence. She makes South Summit, in our minds and imagination, the best spot on earth. We all love her because she understands each of us. SUPEDINTENDENT §nDEDIMlEMDEMX The theme this year SPECTRUM OF AN ERA brings the 1980 s to a close, and along with it brings to mind all that has taken place at South Summit thru the Era that we are now ending. We are very fortunate here at South Summit. We have a Progressive District with Excellent Teachers and Principals dedicated to Quality Education. Many eventful changes have taken place in our school district and at the high school. As we look forward to the 90 ' s we will see the completion of the new high school with all it s beauty. It will provide superior facilities, and a comfortable atmosphere in which to learn. 1 would like to express to each of you my fondest hope that all your dreams become a reality, that success will follow each of you in your individual pursuits and that the education received here at South Summit will benefit you in reaching your goals. I really believe that your potential is unlimited and that you can achieve anything in life if you are willing to work for it. I have every hope that as you work toward Honorable Goals you will be an Example To Others. It is up to you. Take the opportunity to Excel, to Achieve, and to Leave Your Mark so that all will remember you for making this world a Better Place To Live. Mr. Val D. Dusty! 1988-89 was a great year for the Future Farmers of America- Much of the credit should he given to this year s officers and Mr. Aplanalp. The presi- dent this year was Phil Clegg, who had two vi ce- presidents, Melonie Kirkham and Jayme Pappas. The secretary was Erica Averett, and our treasurer was Travis Lewis. Rowdy Fitzgerald kept order as the sentinal, while Trenton Wilde reported all the activities as reporter. Cody Bowen took all the pic- tures at our activities as the photographer, and Tiffany Atkinson was our historian. The officers have done a great job, but the other members helped keep the organization going too. Most of them have attended all the meetings and judging contests which really helped the FFA. Some of the contests and conventions we attend- ed were Snow College Field Day, the BYU Contest, and the State Convention in Provo. Five of our officers, along with Mr Aplanalp, attended the National FFA Convention in Kansas City, Missou- ri All of the activities plus the leadership skills and friendships we have developed have made this year a great one.
