SOME LAST THOUGHTS Summer comes. The doors are locked, the blinds drawn even, the blackboards are washed and the lockers are cleared. Another school year ends and the water tower stands guard over an empty, silent building. The halls, deserted, stretch silently to closed glass doors. No chewing gum wrappers repose under the student lounge benches, no dirty socks hang from sprung lockers. Everyone has raced for the bus for the last time. . . this year. Next year lies just beyond the summer, and there ' s a lot of time ' till then. ' 66 ends.

She said she ' d taste it later. . .1 think she threw it away. . .she can ' t. . .it ' s her job to taste it no matter how it looked. . .how can you tell if water is boiling?. . .Five to three and we still haven ' t washed the dishes. . .1 have to go all the way up to my locker before I can go to the bus. . .Let me ride with you. . .wait while I stop by the office a minute. . . How ' s everything Stop by and talk sometime; the door ' s always open. We may not be able to do anything, bu t we ' ll be glad to listen to what you have to say. . . .What took you so long?. . .Nothing. . .just stopped to talk for a second. . .hurry and we can beat the busses out yet. . .I ' m awfully tired.
