SAY, SENIOR When the diplomas are all handed out, and the tassle is turned; when the last bell has rung, and the last report card handed over. . .what, then, will you remember about the year ' 66? Someday in the future as you work or study somewhere else, what thoughts, then, will come to mind about the days you spent at South? Say, Senior, what will you remem- ber? I ' ll remember being a part of the best football team in the South. I ' ll remember the day we got our class rings. I ' ve got to remember-I can ' t forget. I ' ll remember being in the most creative art class. I ' ll remember the short lunch line ! I ' ll remember living in the office for one whole year. I ' ll remember the bus accident. I ' ll remember the day Mr. Sides sprang a sneak pep rally. I ' ll remember ' winning the State 2-A runner-up trophy at Asheboro. I ' ll remember all the wonderful times I ' ve had in my senior year — ' both this year and next! I ' ll remember Mrs. Archer ' s swinging physics class. I don ' t want to remember anything, I ' m trying hard to forget. I ' ll remember the Mt. Holly football game. I ' ll remember giving my class ring to a girl just three days after we got them. I ' ll remember the cheer that goes — HAVE YOU GOT THE SPIRIT? I ' ll remember the day Steve Crump shouted AMEN in English we hadn ' t even prayed yet ! I ' ll remember the great snow blizzard in ' 66. I ' ll never forget that North Stanly basketball shot going in the South Stanly basket. I ' ll remember the day we voted for our mascots — those sweet little monsters who invaded our school. I ' ll remember when our girls played Sun Valley in basketball. I ' ll remember MacBeth! He was a cruel man, yes he was ! I ' ll remember the FIRST senior class meeting, green robes and red caps, no — was it blue robes and yellow caps? I ' ll remember our GREAT REBEL boys basketball team who went to the District play-offs in Winston-Salem ! Who put those chickens in Mr. Sides ' office. I remember that! Most of all I can ' t forget to remember NOTHING ! 79
