The South Sioux football team opened their 1958 season at home against Blair and were de- feated, in the rain, 13—6, The Cards then traveled to Schuyler and were beaten 13—0. The following week So. Soo. was beaten by Norfolk 6—0, but it was considered the Cards best game. Against tlawarden, the Cards broke a three game losing streak by defeating them 28-6. The Cards played a tough LeMars team in celebration of Homecoming and played very well in a tie of 13-13. So. Soo. then suffered a let down and were beaten by arch-rival, Leeds 20—13, at home. The next scheduled game against Wayne had to be cancelled because of the flu. Omaha Holy Name then visited So. Soo. and defeated the Cards 19—13 in the mud. Bellevue was defeated by the Cardinals 18—0 at Bellevue on a cold, windy night. In the final game, the determined Cards de- feated Boys Town “B , 13—6 in a very hard fought game. Ihe Cardinals ended the season with 3 wins and 5 losses and 1 tie, a record for which all South Sioux can be proud. A fine job was done by all the players, from graduating seniors to the undercl assmen.
