Track is the basis of all sports. It has survived the trial of time starting in the days of the Greeks and continuing strongly into the present. A young man must be able to run well to succeed in any phase of ath- letics. It furnishes athletic competition for any and all types of young men. By chance a young man could not succeed in running but could succeed in some field event. Track will improve the athlete’s indurance, co- ordination, agility, and speed. Cole — This is flying high.

 Student Council Many projects have been successfully sponsored by this year’s Student Council. Perhaps the most im- portant of these have been Church Emphasis Week, March of Safety, and Twirp Week. Other projects were the hot soup served to those who brought noon lunches, noon hour recreation, locker inspections, a sock hop, poster contests, decoration during Christmas holidays, an auction, a check room for valuables, and skits during pep rallies. The Student Council is made up of four seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen. In ad- dition each home room has a representative who meets with the council occasionally to offer suggestions. This year’s student council sponsors are Miss Vlasak and Mr. Burling.
