County Government, sponsored by the American Legion of Nebraska, was or- ganized for the purpose of educating high school students in local government as well as in federal and state government. Mrs. E. N. Swett, Vice President of the State Board of Boys’ and Girls' coun- ty, has charge of the project in our school. Voting is emphasized as the most important point in County Government, as it is also one of the most important responsibilities of a United States citizen. Every student in high school voted on candidates in both a Primary and General Election. The elected candidates spent a day at the courthouse in Dakota City. They visited the offices to which they were elected and learned the duties and functions of these offices.
