Winners' Circle The road to the Indiana State Basketball Champion- ship is always a long and tough one. But the South Side Archers, the Number 1 team in the state, bested all comets to become the 1958 basketball champions. Possessing the tallest player in Indiana history in Mike McCoy, tremendous rebounders and shooters in both Dan Howe and Tom Bolyard, a brilliant outside shooter in Carl Stavreti, and an all-around ball player in Rich Miller, the Archers marched by some of the toughest opposition in the state to record their 28 vic- tories and win the City and State championships. As has been the watchword in ath- letics at South this year, the teamis success depended largely upon the excellent and unselfish teamwork shown by the boys at all times. The state championship is a great tribute to Coach Reichert along with Athletic Director Wayne Scott and Assistant Coach Bill Geyer, who have developed such a fine group of athletes. Don, as he is called by the team, has often said, It has been a great feeling knowing that these boys were not only great basketball stars but true gentlemen every time they stepped onto the floor for a gamefi A Great Seaton A Great Tournament Bl ff T251 We They u ton u i Keiidaiiviiie 65 32 Semomlf Concordia 56 54 Leo 68 40 New HHVUI 67 Z0 New Haven 67 53 Huntington 81 1 Auburn 62 47 Central . 60 52 T.
