Oufsfanding senior players were Gene Bigham, Billy Russell, Charles Prinfup, Winfred Todd, George Nolen, Coffon Miller, Wilbur Conley, Hugh Sisson, George Ufley and Joe Vickers. As fhe year rapidly progressed, 1-he Scrappers came up wi+h fhe cify and disfricf championships in baskefball, wi+h Hugh Sisson and Billy Joe Emmons as All-Memphis players, and Emmons also making All-S+a+e. Also highly rafed were George Ufley, Whi+ McCullough and Wilbur Conley. Two of Sou+h's grapplers won Cify championships. They are Jerry Crum and Bobby Peden. The school's fennis crown was capfured by Charles Thompson, wifh Hollis Rhodes and Gene Rook faking fhe doubles fifle. ln golf, Soufh was represenfed by a feam compos- ed of Gene Bigham, Thad Jennings, Cliff Broadway, Sonny Cross and Eddie Genes.
