Almost every dag' the walls of the gym resounded to the bustle ot serious activity and the peal of joy- ous, healthy laughter, tor the girls of the physical education classes knew how to combine successfully their work and play. Realizing the importance of good health, especially in wartime, each girl tried to keep her health on the highest standard, Daily exercise and participation in all sports--fbasketball, volleyball, softball, tumbling, marching, pingpong, and archery enabed them to accomplish this goal. The newest and one ot the most interesting activ- ities carried on this year was the Archery Club. This club was formed to provide recreation for the archery enthusiasts here at South Side High, and practice ses- snt in Sim llllfll Stiwm. Alexantier, Thelina 'l'aylm', Helen 0sti'anriei', Marrzaret Hanna, lmris llepnlt, Mary Elizahetli Hurd, Marcella Rielly, and Katherine Womlrttff. For on 'tree days the deans of tive and sweet reigned supreme in the old gym. Every phase of dancing from folk dancing to jitterbugging captured the fancy of the physical ed hep-cats and provided unlimited enjoyment tor all. As the gala May Day Festival brought another years activities to a thrilling climax, each girl could look back and review the events of an enjoyable and successful gym yearwa year that will long be a pleasant reminder in her high school memories.
