Health, gym and English are her school subjects. Her saying is That’s no big thing.” RICHARD BOOKER Porkman is widely known throughout the school for his amiable disposition and his reputation as one of South Side's all-time greats in baseball, basketball and foot ball. Dancing is his hobby. His usual greeting is. “Come on!” Hopes for the future center around college admission. CLARENCE BOSEMAN Chemistry and mechanical drawing are top subjects for Bose. who expects to study ut a technological institution. A member of YMCA and Bovs’ Club, he raises tropical fish as a liobby. calls l as-kctball and football his favorite sports. Clarence goes for James Bond movies and “The Fugitive.” PATRICIA BOWDEN JESSICA BOWMAN Pat's” ambition is to become an interior decorator. An active member of Service Club, she enjoys designing and rock 'n' roll music. For sports she lists baseball, football, and basketball. In school Patricia has enjoyed bookkeeping and driver education. Life is what you make of it.” 1- ' N - ' V RENA M. BOWERS “For days, says Bunny,” who plans to undertake nurses’ training. She’s a member of Optimist Staff and her church choir and is a vice-president of tire Red Cross. Rena enjoys The Beverly Hillbillies” and Sidney l'oiticr. Biology and English are her favorite subjects. ■’Cookie says, Ain’t nothing to it but to do it. She plans to attend business school. BARATA BEY “Hey, man! exclaims Bee Bee,“ who plans to study pharmacy. Hes active on South Side’s basketball and track teams, plays the drums whenever he has the chance. A member of Boys Club. Baratu enjoys electronics and music. He likes Sir. Novak” and seeing Poitier act. MARTHA BLEDSOE “Hey now! says Shorty. After completing high school she plans to attend a nursing school. She is a member of C.O. Patrol and I-as Novelet ts. Her favorite type of music is rock 'n' roll. Shorty” likes football, basketball, Bette Davis, and Sidney Poitier. BRUCE BIVINS Mookie” has belonged to the football, indoor, and outdoor track teams — been captain of the eleven. He’s proud of his singing in his church choir and loves gospel music. Chemistry is his favorite subject. Engineering is the career he’s cut out for himself. EDITH BLOW Edith’s ambition is to go to business school. She loves dancing and goes for both jazz and rock ’n’ roll. Her favorite subjects are gym. English, and typewriting. Athletically she votes for hasketball and swimming. Edith is a fan of Connie Stevens and Richard Chamberlain. SHIRLEY ANN BOLDIN Are you kidding? asks Shirl.” She is a member of the Phi Delta Chi Sorority and senator from homeroom 111. Her favorite subjects: mathematics and bookkeeping. During her spare time she bowls and writes letters, while listening to songs like Cod Bless Our Love. Business school beckons. MARCO BLANDINC Elaine” says “Check it out.” Her ambition is to become a nurse. For sports it’s baseball, for study, English. Her hobbies are listening to records or to the radio. “The Nurses” and “The Fugitive are her favorite television shows. Rudy Dee and Poitier are Margos stars. 17

JOYCE BOWMAN “Chldde, a future student of Hampton Institute, can be found at all the football and basketball games, for she’s the cocaptain of tin Cheerleaders. A member of the French Club, Service Club, and the Executive Committee, she has favored the subjects of History and English. EVELYN DELORES BRANHAM Evelyn expects to furtlier her education after graduation from South Side. You'll often find her at her hall patrol post or cheering for our football team. Mathematics was her favorite school subject. Johnny Mathis is Evelyn’s idol in the entertainment field. V MILLS BRICCS Mills spends his spare time on electronics and hopes to become an electrical engineer. English, mathematics, and history were his main subjects; running on South Side’s track team was his athletic hobby. He likes jazz, football, basketball, Perry Mason and The Defenders.” KAREN BR(X)KS Karen expects to continue her education. She’s been a number of our Tennis Club, a devotee of jazz and rock ’n’ roll. She also craves sentimental tunes like My Cuy” and “Never Will 1 Marry. Algebru and basketball are tops. “Handsome is as handsome does,” she says. EDNA BROWN A member of the Optimist Staff, Biology Staff, South Side Twirlers, and homeroom senator, Ed” is treasurer of the the Phi Delta Chi Sorority. Her favorite subject is Business I .aw. She really digs jazz the roost, lists dancing and singmg as top spare-time activities. JOHN LESTER BROWN English is John’s top school subject. His aim is to go into the commercial art field. Naturally, his prime hobbies are drawing and painting posters. A singer in Mixed Chorus and Boys Glee Club, he lists baseball as the favorite sport. 19
