He’s a fazz enthusiast, a member of 20th Century Hawks, an admirer of Elliot Ness and The Untouchables. Choice tunes are Shopning for Clothes and Searching.’’ Everything’s copaseticsays Sate, a basketball player and future member of the armed forces. He likes music, especially jazz, and has sung in Boys' Glee Club. English is his favorite subject, “The Untouchables his top TV program. Kirk Douglas is Nate’s star. HORACE STOKES Student Banker Horace serves the community by collecting for Polio and other disease-prevention funds. A member of the Parisians, he plays piano, loves all types of music. He enjoys parties, golf, and tennis. Favored among stars arc Cary Grant and Sandra Dee. BEVERLY JEAN TAYLOR Bev has been very active in South Side. Cheerleader, member of the Science, German, and Ixitin Clubs. Liltrary Staffer, and orchestral musician, she’s enthusiastic about English. Chemistry, and Geometry. Music lessons, scouting, membership in youth councils also fill her life. Future plans: Douglas College or Boston U. ROBERT TYLER Bill hopes there is an Air Force uniform ready for him. He has been interested in model airplanes, the Young Democrats Club of N. ., U. S. History, English. and singing in the Dauphine Choral Grn'ip, Fat:oritc tunes: “Enchanted. AUu-Oop ; favorite expression: You know. DIANE WEILER Dee holds that God helps those who help themselves. A member of the executive committees of several classes, she has specialized in commercial courses at South Side, expects to attend a business college in the future. Her hobby has been collecting different types of salt and pepper shakers. 27

 ELEANOR SPENCE Math and Record Keeping have been “JVora's choice subjects, and she’ll continue them in business school. As a member of B.Y.P.U. and St. Philip's Youth Center she’s had fun. Further recreation comes from singinp and sewing, cheering South Side s athletic teams. LUZ MARIA SANTIAGO Lucy” will make a good advertisement for the beauty culture school she attends. An avid member of Spanish Club, she likes to read and to listen to soft music on the radio. 'To Tcngo Tu Amor” is her favorite melody. Felipe Rodriguez sings to her heart. PAUL SIMMONS Paul rejoices in the nickname of Baldincy.” He sees a future in machine operating. A member of Viking A.S.C., he enjoys football and baseball, responds to rock ’n roll. TV favorite is The Untouchables ’; favorite actor is Art Carney. ”Live and Let Live, says Paul. ELAINE SIMS Fan of Harry Belafonte, Mooch loves modern music, especially the score of “Porgy and Bess. Member of Xinas of Essex County and our school Service Club, she has found Spanish and Stenography of greatest interest, hopes to attend secretarial school after graduation. EVELYN SKIPPER “Education is man’s greatest asset.’’ To live up to this quotation “Evvy” prei ares for a fob as a psychiatric social worker. Sow, active Evelyn is a Library Aid. belongs to the Spanish Club aiul Hilltop Recorder Staff. Out-of-school membership includes Xinas, Leaguers, and M.Y.T. PATRICIA SPRUILL Church Choir anti the Polynesians S.C. claim “Pat. She bees popular tunes and jazz. “Ooh Poop Pah Doo.” “Tell Me Today and “The Wind” thrill her. She’s crazy about Italian food, esjiecially spaghetti and meatballs. Loves to hear Marv Johnson and Jessie Hill records. Business school in view.

HARVEY WEINBERG Member of Projection Staff. Student Bbnker, “Bin Harv” aims to become manager of a supermarket. He admires jazz, especiallu tunes tike Mack the Knife. ’ Among his likes are football, horse racing, bowling, TV’s Twilight Zone, ‘ and actress Elizabeth Taylor. MARTIN WERNER Class treasurer Mort’’ has won varsity letters in baseball, basketball. and soccer; belongs to YM-YWHA. His aptitude in English and History should help him at Montclair State College. Work on Projection Staff coincides with his love of movies. As hobbies he lists bowling and golf. KEITH WHITE Bab inquires, Like what’s hap• ctiingHe hopes it will soon be attendance at Howard University and study toward an accounting degree. A partisan of three-inch steaks and Shakespearean plays, he’s served on GO patrol, is a member of Young MetYs Republican Association. JANET WILKINS Jan’s inclinations are domestic. She dotes on preparing her own food specialties and in sewing. Mixed Chorus, Library Staff, and the Viscounts value her membership. Rock ’n roll and skating are top hobbies. After South Side her education will be continued at a business college MELVIN WILLIAMS Indoor Track star Smiley feels, To have a friend, you must be one. That he is appreciated is shown by his election to class presidency. That he’s an expert singer is shown by membership in New Jersey All-State Chorus, Boys Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, and Madrigals. LORRAINE WILLIAMS A Youth Member of N.A.A.C.P., Dimples loves rock ’n roll, enjoys singing in Girls’ Glee Club, playing on Cirls' Baseball Team. Law, English, Health, and Physical Education have been her favorite classes. Another fan for Sidney Poiticr. Ha! Ha! says Lorraine. 28
