Fishing and water skiing are the favorite sports. Favorite actress: B Bardot. He expects to study engineering at Rutgers. BARBARA JEFFERSON Pretty Barbara, a dance-loving member of Jive-Ettcs, has a serious fwst-graduation goal — attending nursing school. Service in the Junior Bed Cross, singing in Mixed Chorus, and working in Service Club are some of her activities. A football fan, she likes the acting of Rory Calhoun. ODESSA JONES Music: history, and math interest Dcs who sings in Mixed Chorus and her church choir. She belongs to Polynesians and the P.T.S.A. President of homeroom 59, Odessa collects records, enjoys watching all sports, TV, and movies. After graduation, she expects to work at Bell Telephone Company. CLAIRE KARPF Claire has a worthwhile ambition —to teach the blind. Xicknamed “Clairoil,” she belongs to Band, Orchestra, and Service Club. History, Chemistry, jazz, rock 'n roll, football, and basketball arc all favorites with Claire. TV and movies are recreations. Her saying: Love is strange. FLEMING THOMAS JOHNSON Aint that something? asks Tommy. His musical interest certainly is. A lover of concert music, he plays piano, is a member of Band and Orchestra, sings in Rev. L. Roberts’ Voices of Faith Choir. In addition, he's varsity in both track and football! VERDIE JOHNSON Vcrdie, a Modern Miss, is on Optimist Staff and a member of Polynesians. She likes gym and history, singing in her church choir, jazz, and jock ’n roll. Bourbon St. Beat and Record Wagon are part of Verdie’s TV viewing. Next in sight: I.B.M. School.

CARRIE EVANS Business school tv the next goal for “Connie Chairman of her church choir, she also sings in South Side’s Sr. Girls’ Glee Club and Mixed Chorus, and belongs to the Polynesians. A fan of swimming and football, she’s known for long conversations on the telephone. CAROLYN CEE A girl who loves to sing, Carolyn employs her talents in her church choir and in Junior and Senior Girls’ Glee Clubs. She’s been a member of Polnncsians and a fan of South Side's athletic teams. Sewing and listening to records are hobbies. Future: Essex County Technical School. CHARLES CERRER President of his 3A Class, member of Math Club and Stage Crete, Dion tv headed for Montclair State College to become a teacher of mathematics. Guess his favorite sub feet. Hint: he spends spare time reading math books. Sans he: “Asi es la vida (such is lifer CHARLES HACKLEY “I’m hip,” proclaims “Chucky whose musical loves are progressive fazz and rock ’n roll. He enjoys participating in small-group and choral singing: carries his rhythm over to the Basketball Team. Algebra and Trig are favored subjects. He likes public-affairs and drama programs DOLORES HOLMES A member of Library Staff and La Fcmina, Dip sings in her church choir, enjoys sewing, reading, and dancing. Music is a big interest, with Never Let Me Go and Just for a Thrill the top tunes. After South Sitfa, she hopes to attend a secretarial school. LULA HOBBS Lxda belongs to the Junior League. N.A A.C.P., and Modern Miss Club. She plans to become a nurse. You can make it if you try, says Lula. She tries to follow this motto with her favorite sport, tennis, and favorite school subjects. ARLENE LEVELL “Lean’’ loves skating and the movies (especially Jeff Chandler), has enjoyed U. S. history and all her math courses. She sings in her church choir and is active in C.Y.O. Senator anti Service Club member, she isn’t sure about whether to be a nurse or business woman. DONALD KONDROSKI Don plays on the Soccer Team, enjoys football, baseball, and basketball also. Science and Biology Clubs hold his interest and point to his future career, work in electronics. His hobby is customizing cars; his recreations, listening to itopular music, watching TV thrillers. CATHERINE LAWRENCE For this Senator and future social workers Library Staff and La Vogue Ladies have been interesting activities. Cathy likes to watch basketball, enjoys jazz, Jeff Chandler’s acting, sewing. She goes for TV programs, especial-I “Twilight Zone,” “Shotgun Slade, and Bergen Street Beat.” DALE EMILY LAYTON “TonT is a member of the Choir and Dramatic Club of Sew Hope Baptist Church. Spanish Club, Algebra, and Typewriting have l een South Side favorites. She likes surprise ending of Alfred Hitchcock TV thrillers; aims for Hampton Institute or a modeling school. CAROL L© DOUX Bowling and collecting records are favored hobbies of ' Snookie.” She s jyartial to “Till the End of Time” and “Tonight, Tonight. ’ Regarding classes, she gives the nod to Health, U. S. History, and English. After graduation she intends to head for business school and an office career. THELMA MARCH Member of Polynesians, F.B.L.A., and Twiners, “TheI” sings in Mixed Chorus and the Antra-tones Singing Group. She’s enjoyed Y.W.C.A., Typewriting, Stenography, and English. Sewing and record collecting are hobbies. Her sports are swimming, tennis, and skating. Business college beckons for Thelma. 22
