Collecting jazz albums is her hobby; Speech and English are her class preferences. Tell it like it is. SHIRLEY COLLINS “That’s all right is the reassuring word from Red. All right with her are History. English, Office Practice. A devotee of cooking, she sings in her church choir, expects to become a beautician. Shirley likes baseball, basketball, “The Untouchables, and Clark Cable. JUDITH COTTEN Health and U. S. History have been Judy’s most interesting subjects. A singer in Mixed Chorus, member of Service Club, Hilltop Recorder and Optimist Staff, she enjoys writing in her spare time, finds movies fascinating. Her leading actors: Joan Crawford. Mercedes McCarnbridgc, and Sidney Poilier. JUANITA DAVIS “Dolls immediate plans are for IBM school, but she hopes some day to bp a model. A member of N.A.A.C.P. and singer in her church choir, she enjoys singing, skating, ami Itowling. Top tunes are Love Me Tomorrow and It’s All in My Mind Better Late Than Never—Better Yet, Be on Time, says she. BRENDA DUNLAP “Bren advises us, Take it slow, now. She's too busy to take her own advice, what with activities in N.A.A.C.P.. The Co-Eds. Polynesians, Jr. Red Cross, and Band. Modern Dancitig is her special hobby; U. S. History, Chemistry, Dance Class, favored studies. She’ll make a good R.N. MAXINE DAVIS A nurse's aul and church choir singer, Maxine has a weakness for health and history. Tell it like it is is her favorite saying. She hopes to attend a business school ufter graduation. Maxine savers a liking for progressive jazz and Chinese fowl; thinks The Drifters best musical group. 19

He’s played in Senior Batul, showed preference for jazz mujtc like Alley-Oop.” Woodworking is his hobby; his immediate goal is to join the U. S. Navy. JOYCE CARTER J. C.” has been class secretary and business manager, a member of Polynesians and Service Club. A future “government gal,” she’s novular at dances, enjoys kick-ball, softball, and swimming. Among her enthusiasms are rock 'n roll, “The Untouchables,” “Mike Hammer,” and Loretta Young. JOYCE CHARACTER An admirer of Nina Simone, Cannonball Adderley, ami Johnny Mathis, ”J. C.” has liked the subjects in the Commercial Dei art-ment, plans to studu in IBM School. She enjoys skating and traveling, thrillers on TV, and Robert Stack. Says she, You'd better believe it. JOHN CHEEKS For Chic” service in the U. S. Army is next on the agenda. He’s been a member of P.L.B.C. Potential Leader Boys’ Club and a varsity player on the Basketball Team. 0. S. History and English are favorite subjects. His musical tastes run to jazz and rock ’n roll. RONALD CIRLINCIONE Jazz and Dixieland are musical choices of Ron,” who plays in a four-piece band, enjoys being a member of the Swimming Team and Projection Staff. Skin-diving is his favorite sport. B. Bardot is a girl he’d like to be with. Hopes to make Air Force Academy. I JANET COLE Senator and Optimist Staff member, “Jan” sings in her church choir and the Festival Chorus, loves to correspond with her friends. She expects to attend Newark Teachers College; to study elementary education. “Give to the world the best that you have, arul the best will come back to you.” 18

CARRIE EVANS Business school tv the next goal for “Connie Chairman of her church choir, she also sings in South Side’s Sr. Girls’ Glee Club and Mixed Chorus, and belongs to the Polynesians. A fan of swimming and football, she’s known for long conversations on the telephone. CAROLYN CEE A girl who loves to sing, Carolyn employs her talents in her church choir and in Junior and Senior Girls’ Glee Clubs. She’s been a member of Polnncsians and a fan of South Side's athletic teams. Sewing and listening to records are hobbies. Future: Essex County Technical School. CHARLES CERRER President of his 3A Class, member of Math Club and Stage Crete, Dion tv headed for Montclair State College to become a teacher of mathematics. Guess his favorite sub feet. Hint: he spends spare time reading math books. Sans he: “Asi es la vida (such is lifer CHARLES HACKLEY “I’m hip,” proclaims “Chucky whose musical loves are progressive fazz and rock ’n roll. He enjoys participating in small-group and choral singing: carries his rhythm over to the Basketball Team. Algebra and Trig are favored subjects. He likes public-affairs and drama programs DOLORES HOLMES A member of Library Staff and La Fcmina, Dip sings in her church choir, enjoys sewing, reading, and dancing. Music is a big interest, with Never Let Me Go and Just for a Thrill the top tunes. After South Sitfa, she hopes to attend a secretarial school. LULA HOBBS Lxda belongs to the Junior League. N.A A.C.P., and Modern Miss Club. She plans to become a nurse. You can make it if you try, says Lula. She tries to follow this motto with her favorite sport, tennis, and favorite school subjects.
