Cereste Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Implementation of policy decisions made by the Board of Education is the function of the Administration, a trained statt of educational specialists, headed by Mr. Her- bert F. Johnson, Superintendent, Dr. Alfred J. Cereste, Administrative Assistant, and Mr. J. Dale McKibben, Prin- cipal ot South Side Senior High School. For the past six years Mr. Johnson has demonstrated his leadership as Superintendent of Schools, directing his eFlorts toward organizing teaching, supervisory, and cus- todial stafts. Among the duties of Dr. Cereste, Adminis- trative Assistant, is the publishing of a news bulletin, Your Schools, sent to every home in the village to inform the residents of developments in the schools. Mr. McKibben, Principal of South Side Senior High School, is the stu- dent's closest contact with the administration. His leader- ship, guidance, and understanding have worked to strengthen student-faculty relations. However, the relationship between the Board and the Administration is a two-fold one: besides carrying out the Board's policy decisions, the Administration also suggests necessary additions to the public schools. 12

Understanding and communication between fac- ulty members and students have created a close student-faculty relationship in South Side. lnstilling democratic traits and intellectual awareness, South Side teachers attempt to prepare their students to be intelligent members ot the community. Statted by a high calibre faculty, South Side is equipped to broaden its students' view ot lite, thus tultilling the basic function of education.
