Led by President Robert Maurer, Vice-President Nancy Holt, Secretary Judy Lehman, and Treasurer Melvyn Schoenteld, the sophomores taced many new and exciting experiences, long to be remem- bered: tirst day at South Side, Class cake and cookie sale, Sophomore AMB., talent assembly, longer homework assignments, book reports, history pro- jects. They adiusted to these responsibilities with the enthusiasm worthy of any South Side class. Surrounded by Manhattan's soaring towers, the juniors enjoy an evening of romance. Surrounded on all sides by vivid scenery depict- ing the hustle and bustle of Times Square, the color- ful atmosphere of Greenwich Village, the serenity of Central Park and the stateliness of New York's sky- line, a record number of lO5 couples attended the Junior Prom, Manhattan, Paul Muro's five-piece band provided music ranging in selection from semi-classical to boogie- woogie, while Sami Coe's dancing troupe entertained during intermissions. After the donce the couples crowded into three buses and were oft for dining and more dancing at the plush Golden Slipper nightclub. They returned to Rockville Centre ready for a round of informal breakfast porty-hopping. sophisticated theme for junior prom Prom co-chairmen, Arlene Garrett and Bob Cormack, ethusiastically compliment Decorations cochairmen, Doreen Eventoff and Philip Friedman, on their realistic city-backdrop.
