The strongest Cyclone tearn in years Long Beach ' finished with an excellent 8-3-4 reco'd, losing Sewonhoku t only to Wantagh and twice to Sefvanhalqa, Massapequa H I A All-Scholastic Tom Masters, aided by Al Young East Meadow and Denny Schmidt, spurred the oftense and Oceanside U combined to score all but two goals. An ex- Boldwin cellent defense, high-lighted by the brilliant Valley Stream Long Beach , Oceanside .. Sewanhaka . cage play of goalie John Bohs and all- scholastics, Tom Teuten and Jerry Metcalf, helped the booters to down a strong Ocean- side club to win the playoff and cop the sec- tion two title.

In keeping with South Side's record as a strong tennis aggregate, the Cyclone netmen posted a 7-3 record and achieved third place in section three of the S.S.A.L. Led by seniors, Kamen, Kupferstein, and Cooper, the Siders won their first five matches but lost in the crucial ninth match to Uniondale. Racing under the direction of Coach Robert Morse, South Side's horriers achieved a better than average 5-5 record for the '57 season. He whipped his boys into shape through daily iogs, sprints, and calisthenics on the school field. By season's end, the remaining Cyclone squad became a power in this grueling run.
