The ship builder strives to utilize all of the knowledge that he has gained through training and experience, in coordination with the techniques that he has attained during his lifetime. His aim is toward the production of a strong, sturdy, seaworthy ship that will be capable of resisting the waves of the stormy sea. In the same way, a teachers ultimate goal lies in the devel- opment of students who will be able to endure the mighty storms of life after grad- uation. In a sense, the teacher, too, is a builder -a builder of character, of citizenship, of leadership, and of scholarship. NVhile her accomplishments are on an intellectual level, those of the builder are on a mate- rial level. Both feel a great inner satisfac- tion, the builder at seeing the launching of his ship, the teacher at seeing her stu- dents become mature individuals. 9
