aw qfwtofuf Sept 1940 found Nerwin Krientz, lla Jean Lewis, Harley Loftus, Dean Mors, ralne Rlckard, Dick Dtenstavold, and Violet Ann fallmuth enrolled as first graders I1ss marion Rickard was their guide for the fir t two years During their second year, of school, four of their members lla Jean Lewis, e hors, Lorraine h'ckard, and Violet Ann 'allmuth mozed awav Howev r this loss was partiall offset bv allace achmeling s movmng to town and enrolling in school H holds the distinction of being the onl member of this vear's graduating class to have had his grade school training in South hore Harlel Loftus, Dick Stenstavold, Merwin Krientiz, and allace Schmeling contin ued the road of education together throughout the next two years under the suner vision of hiss Celeste Rickard In their fifth year Harley Loftus transferred to Natertown and in the year they were Joined by Mary Hansen hr Mallerv was their teacher during their seventh and ei ht fears were strenghtened by he addition of hvron Lindberg, Ardell Steffenson, and Ivan and Ethan Pish The latter two dropped out early in the wear, leaving six freshies to struggle along Mrs Burgess, Hr Herring and Mr Jim Jade were their guide Again in the sonhomore year, the enrollment incr ased when L Vonne Dahl trans fer ed from Strandburg, and Dick Peters, from, atertown but the loss of Dick Stenstavold who transferred to Strandburg was keenlv felt Mr Detchons replaced Mr Wade In the Junior year with their class gradually decreaslng we find only three veterans returing to take the task of finding the top of this long weary trail These three were Ardell Steffenson, Wallace Schmeling and Myron Lindberg In the last year one more dropned out, Ardell Sterfenson who was transferred to Milbank But the group was encouraged when Maynard Mills was transferred from Watertown and Arthur Mever started the second semester, bringing the graduation total up to four During their years of High School they were in many activities, Wallace and Myron, having played on the ball team for four years, while Arthur add ed to the team, played the last part of the season Ne see these four seniors, tired, yes, but hanny, at graduation with their goal hand, a d1,loma' 'drfim-ax 1 DATE TAY 22, l952 'Wafedcctazcaa Salatato-aan NAUMCE nvmm 00000000 SCHMEL ING LINDB .DG 766101102 AMERICAN BEAUTY ROSE RED AND WHITE PUSHING BACK THE HORIZON .
