Quest1ons such as these were predomlnate 1n many m1nds MUSIC was to come to us 1n the form of a band Th1s Instrument were few cand1dates for band many muslc none whatsoever A gradual 1ncrease then the spark was be g1nn1ng to glow soon the flame would dance forth The P T A gave an Amateur Show the school board cooperated and soon there was to be a Chr1stmas Orchestra The tlme came the group played and th1s was the take off pomt MUSIC came 1n a Tuba was purchased Santa Claus gave some 1nstruments out and now for a Pep Band The Centennlal Game was an 1ncent1ve for the mus1c1ans they played they d1d well Then a few more gave and an occas1onal Pep sesslon Concert The band now about Z0 actual players and Z0 111 beg1nn1ng classes IS on the way A pre show concert at the Band Var1et Show Beneflt sponsored by the P T A was well rece1ved by the audxence Now for the Spr1ng Concert and one year s work 1n band 1S f1n1shed The Monday Elvenmg Club donated a sum of money to the Band and everyone seems to back us 1007 May th1s year be the start of a real band h1story for South Shore Jlavnafar ts? G16 -l The Glee Club was organlzed ln the beg1nn1ng of the school year when try outs were held and thlrty e1ght gxrls became members Work was soon begun and the Glee Club worked hard to part 1n the Chr1stmas Program at wh1ch tlme they sang The Green Catherdral by Carl Hahn Cuckoo Clock by G A Grant Schaefer Today There ls Rlngxng by F' Mel1us Chr1st1ansen and Up On The House Top wh1ch IS a trad1t1on al Chrlstmas carol The group also sang at the December meetlng on the P T A Thelr nurnbers then were The Green Catherdral and CuckooClock A glrls ensemble chosen from the members of the Glee Club sang Three Llttle Ma1ds by MarJor1e Elllott at the Farmer s Instltute on anuary l6 4 W1th the beg1nn1ng of the second semester the glrls began ' the mus1c festlval 1n May Gr1ddle Cakes by Gretchanyky and Snow Legend by Clokey are the numbers to be entered 1n class B Because of placlng flrst 1n class C 1n the sprlng of 1947 the Glee Club has dec1ded to compete 1n class B tlus year XV V.
