Mr. Keller was avery big 102, of the team if not more. Without him the girls could not have done as well in their year's play as they did. Many atime there were tensions and demanding situations, but Mr. Keller held his own as well as holding the team together. Mr. Keller-taught the bas- ketball girls much and they worked hard to be a good and winning team for their coach and school. The defense, Marge Broughton, Fran Caldwell, and Janelle Jarboe, are taking a big stride to stop Palmyra's forwards from scoring during South Shelby's tournament, in which the girls went on to win first place. Janelle's, Connie's, and Fran's eyes are on the ball. They must get it onthe offense so they can rack up more points for South Shelby. 85 LINDA LUCAS JOYCE TISUE LOU ANN GANDER PAM BOWER heerleaders LESLIE PALMER .IANIE BONO BARBARA MA SSEY DEBBIE HEATHMAN MARY HAYS NANCY GARRISON BOWERVS MAR KET STARLA DECKER LINDA SMITH ' ' W E ' 39, mah Basketball l H in Pep Club Front Row: Starla Decker, Debbie l-Ieathman, Barbara Massey, Lou Ann Gander, Linda Smith, Pam Bower. Their music provided the climax to a day when our band and colorful floats lined the streets, the Cardinals achieved a Victory, and a new queen reigned. The Valentine dance With the Christie's Critters band, hearts, crepe paper streamers, and dim lights was probably one of the most memorable events of the year. L, RICE, D,V,lVl, Thomas F, Ea Governor of i gigfgrgl fi I XL 4 of gleton Lt. Missouri 5 is 'nw Dedicatory tatement y Superintendent of Schools The dedication of the South Shelby High School formally inaugurates the project we in this district have given ourselves--a pro- ject to provide the best educational pro- gram that we can. Certainly, a great portion of this project has been accomplished by the completion of the high school building. We have the satisfaction of seeing what has al- ready been accomplished by the co-operation, support, and patience of those who support education. All who have contributed in any way can feel pride in what has been accom- plished so far. ln addition to dedicating this building we are also dedicating a plan of education. Although our attention today is directed mainly to the high school building, we are, also, dedicating a plan which includes all public school activities in our district. This plan was set in motion when the voters created the Shelby County R-IV District. The high school building is completedg however, the implementing of the plan will be brought about by the continuation of our efforts to improve the quality, diversity, and effectiveness of the preparation of our young people to meet their needs educationally and socially.
