H Sam Bonnano Marv Ashby Tony Fardella The l96l football season was filled with many surprises and disappoinments for our varsity squad. The year started with a thrilling victory over Ravenswood High, and ended with a disap- pointing 26-20 loss at the hands of arch-rival .lef- ferson. During the entire season the Varsity fought with great determination, surprising many rivals and upsetting the highly favored Vikings of Mills. Great performances were turned in by Ed Elliot, George Baptista, Clyde Haddock, and Ron Wits- chy. The team was fired up for all its contests and even though they didn't win the championship, their fellow students and coaches should be justi- fiably proud ofthe team. San Mateo Hillsdale . FRESHMAN FOOTBALL Bob Warfield Nick Crusick ' V The Frosh football team went through the season with one victory and a tie. The hard fought victory over Westmoor was symbolic of the team spirit and determination. They wanted to win, not so much for themselves but for the freshman class. The backs on any football team must undergo rigorous training in preparation for the long season. An Important asset of any team is the unheralded man- ager, the freshmen were fortunate to have three of the best. 95
