South San Francisco's soccer team has, in its two years of exis- tence, earned a tremendous re- spect among its league members. It has proven never to be an easily defeated team. On this year's soc- cer team was our foreign exchange student Heinz Weiss. The Warriors were defeated by the Champion team, Sequoia, only by a last min- ute goal. S.S.F. 0 .. .. This year's golf team was one of the best our school has ever as- sembled. Coach Earl Homan's squad played fine, consistent golf all year long, while at times show- ing outstanding ability and a wealth of timely shots. The team was paced by Junior Morrie Ver- burgge who is rapidly becoming the most promising young golfer on the Peninsula. With the return of Verburgge, Joe Pacheo, John Rich, and others, our school is insured of future success on the golf course. 4 The tennis team, under the lead- ership of Mr. Winston, has a new and enthusiastic interest created at South San Francisco High. Many of the members have been work- ing out since the end of last year's season to gain a higher position on the tennis ladder. The response of the underclassmen has also been enthusiastic and the work that they are turning out creates great prom- ise for the future teams.
