Coached by jim Snowden in his second year at South City, they finished in third place with a record of five wins and three losses. The team, which was comprised partly of players from a D's team which had a poor season last season, was very successful this year. 56 f x 15,31 S 3 he is STANDHNIGS D'S w L San Mateo 7 1 Carlmont 6 2 Westmoor 6 2 Capuchino 5 3 Jefferson 5 3 S. S. F. 3 5 Burlingame 2 6 Hillsdale 2 6 H. M. Bay 0 8 The D's basketball team, coached by jim Snowden, did not fair too well this year. They placed 6th in league play. The majority of their losses could be attributed to a lack of height. Although the team hustled as hard as any team in the league, their inability to get rebounds kept them from winning more games. Despite this sub-par season the future looks bright for the coming season. Front Row, 1 to r: Darold Lennier, Ronald Marder, Douglas Swanson, Bob Marquez, Walter Poncia, Danny Emmett. This year's Frosh certainly did not even come close to being the most impressive team in the lea- gue as far as the won-loss column goes. Their record does not completely show the whole story. Their record of no wins, four losses, and three ties appears to be a lost cause. However this was not true. Almost completely lacking of past high school ex- perience they showed one out- standing strong point. This was their brilliant defensive work during the season. Any coach will tell you that you can't make a player good defensively unless he has a natural knack for it. Al- though they could not build an offense as brilliant as their de- fense, they gained the one thing they were lacking, experience. So it could be said this team had a successful season from the stand- STANDINGS W L T CAP 7 o o BUR 6 1 o 4 3 o H'Ls 3 3 1 cLM r 3 4 o wsTM 2 4 1 JEFF 1 5 1 ssr 0 4 3 point that they built a strong foun- Shown in foreground with clipboard is frosh-soph coach Bob dqtion for Q future winning team, Keropian in his initial year at SSF.
