Student 'Z ,,,. , X' 4 The I967-68 South Salem High National Honor Society Chapter consists of 82 seniors. To qualify for N.H.S. students must obtain an accumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher and must rank high in leadership, character, and service. Tapping ceremonies are held in November and March. National Honor Society provides recognition to all of its members, and ci scholarship from funds gained by sales from the paperback book store, is given to . one selected student. Members have also devoted time to tutoring fellow students. The tutoring program is now in its third A year. Mr. Roger Whiteman serves as . - advisor for the group. . K 'wx' ,V . Quill and Scroll Quill and Scroll is a National Journalism honor Society which gives recognition to staff members of both the Newspaper and Yearbook. To qualify for membership, a student must achieve a 3.0 grade point and must have served the publication on which he worked in some outstanding way. The Saxon chapter sponsors the annual High School Bowl. The first com- petition this year was held February 9, 1968 between the Sophomores and Juniors, and the second on February 14 be- tween the Juniors and Seniors. The Juniors were the victors in both meets. First Semester initiation of new officers was held at the Colonial House November 7, and a Bar-B-Q at the home of Barbie Norris was held in the Spring for the election of i968-69 officers, and to initiate new members selected for the second semester. Secretary-Treasurer was Joyce Fowler. Doug Peterson was M.C. for final bowl. sponsors Bowl uns Vice-President Barbie Norris and President Craig Prosser at the Nov. 7 dinner Those representing the Sophomore class were George Roberts, Ed Whipple, JimWoelfel, and Jo Plaiscince.
