Bruce Taylor collects clues leading to the capture of Leslie Ward and Don Rasmussen at the Coronation Ball Assembly. FALL. ASSEMBLIES ATTRACT SAX On November 24, Saxons poured into the main gym to watch the presentation of the annual Thanksgiving Assembly, under the direction of First Vice-President Diane McGilchrist. The assembly featured a humorous skit, choral selections by the Saxon choir, and a serious reading by Cathy Collins. Saxons returned to the gym December 17, for the presentation of the 1966 Coronation Court. Candidates were elected by the A.S.B. from a list of Senior Class nominees. Sherlock Holmes discovered clues leading to the capture of the Court Candidates for the title ot First Lady of South. The Candidates and their escorts were Kree Kree Snyder and Joe Much, Gail Horning and Dan Haggerty, Barb Auld and Warren Cooley, Estell Barber and Guy Colby, Julie Price and Craig Chambers, Carole Schunk and Spencer Allan, Liz Nickolson and Jeff Shinn, Leslie Ward and Don Rasmussen, Diane McGilchrist and Alan Swafford, and Candy Patterson and left Mcltillop.

On October 1, 1965 The Queens Ball was held in the gold room of the Marion Hotel. The theme ofthe tormal dance was Once Upon A Time, and SaIem's tour Job's Daughters Bethels sponsored the function to honor the Present and Junior Past Honored Queens. The Iowa Achievement Test given annually to Sophomores was the - ,.f .., .f first major taste of their new environment. The tests took two days and 30 students scored in the ninety-ninth percentile group. The youngest Saxons elected class officers: Dave Hicks as President, Steve Barger as Vice-President, Molly McCullough as Secretary-Treasurer, and Doug Knights as Sergeant-at-Arms. These officers directed Sophomore class business under the guidance of Mrs. Dorothy ludd and Mr. Art Christison, class counselors. ln sports the l.V. football team consisting of Sophomores finished first in district with an undefeated season, and the Sophomore basketball team finished second.
