Qeared for Ml JOHN FITZPATRICK Director of Athletics Head of Department JOSEPH DUDRA B.S. Throughout the year the Physical Education Department attempts to develop the student in both body and character. During gym periods students are provided with the opportunity to participate in team, dual, and individual sports, dance exercises, and calisthenics. Students can also join the various intramural sports supervised by the department. The boys enjoy basketball while the girls' program includes field hockey, bowling, softball, volleyball, badminton, along with basketball. The boys' varsity and junior varsity teams offer the student the opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports. This past spring golf was added to the ranks of football, cross country, basketball, wrestling, track, and baseball. The department sponsors several boys to represent the school in the Marine Physical Fitness Test in the spring. Girls participate interscholastically in basketball and enjoy dance and volleyball Play Days. In another role that is equally vital to the students, the department provides instruction in first aid, driver's education, civil defense and community health. Though offered only once a week, the teachers make maximum use of the time to produce an effective program. In its dual role the Physical Education Department furnishes curricula that have significant effect on the students. 25 Miss Fieseler and Mr. Labudzki check rosters.
