Our Math 'Department Emphasizes the Zheoretieal and the Practical MRS. BARBARA JOHANNES A. B. Algebra II. Business Math PATRICK McGLINCY B. S.. Calculus. Senior Math Applied Physics Calculus is the limit with Mr. McGlincy. To meet the varied interests and needs of students studying math, the Mathematics Department is divided into two curricula. The first division, which prepares the student for everyday mathematical problems, consists of General Math and Math Review. The second curriculum, intended for the college bound student, offers him five years of math from Algebra I to Introductory Calculus. Triangles, compasses, numerous problems and diagrams introduce the geometry and trigonometry student to the type of math he will encounter later on in school. For the more mathematically inclined, the Department offers an advanced course which places its emphasis not on solving problems but on providing the students with an insight into concepts. Our fine arts curriculum includes Music and Art. Although neither is a major subject, both provide opportunities for learning, appreciation and service. Given the opportunity to display their achievements, the Music and Art Departments perform a major service to both school and community. Considering our students as individuals, each with his own distinctive character and ambition, our guidance counselors aid them in selecting courses, preparing for college, choosing vocational objectives and in working out practically any personal conflict that might arise.
