Social Studies . . . A Key to Understanding Our Changing Society ALEXANDER LUKACS. JR. B.S.. M.Ed. U.S. History I, C.A.S. Head of Department MRS. PATRICIA CARNEY B.A. U.S. History II American Field Service MRS. ELIZABETH A. CHANDO B.A. U.S. History I Junior Red Cross EDWARD COLANTTI B.S.. M.A. World Geography, International Relations Geared to meet our varied interests, the Social Studies department offered a number of courses which left us with an understanding and awareness of the complex world society and how it evolved. We all studied the history of the United States for two years, and many took courses in World History, Geography, Contemporary American Society, and International Relations. Through these courses skills were developed in written and oral expression as we were made aware of the different social, economic, and political systems around the world. We hope to use these skills to play an intelligent and informed role in the ever-changing society in which we live. MRS. JUDY OLUFSON B.A. World History MISS COLLEEN TIERNEY B.A. U.S. History I MISS EMILY VARGA B.A. U.S. History I. II

ACM Modernizes the Study of Cauguages Mrs. Tylutki shows pictures of Rome. To acquire a working knowledge of the modern languages, Spanish, French, and German, the instructors use the audio-lingual method. Together with this study, the department provides an insight into the past and present culture of their respective peoples. In effect, the language students find themselves participating in the practical aspects of the language while appreciating the talents of Cervantes, Rousseau, and Schiller, and the classic Marcus Aurelius. For the student interested in the classic tongue and the history of ancient Rome, a two year course in Latin is offered. Preparing recombinated response drills with Mrs. Kosa. ROBERT KILLIAN A.B.
