English . . . Experiences in MISS GRACE DUNN B.A.. Ed. M. Head of Department English IV MISS BEVERI.Y HOYNOS B.S. English IV. Speech Image Players Having its own distinct aim, each year of our English language course left us with its own lasting impression. Our remembrance of each year's objective and the work encountered reflects our outstanding problems and interests. Our initial year of high school English was full of anticipation as we experienced only a general introduction to writing skills and literature. Along with Pip in the classic novel we entertained Great Expectations. Sophomore year marked the end of our introduction as we extensively cov-ered writing skills and a broad cross-section of literature. Studying Shakespeare's Julius Caesar was more often considered toil than such adventures as Night Flight by Anton de Saint Exupcry. Junior year was devoted to American literature and such famous Authors as Thoreau, Emerson, and Hawthorne. Interestingly, our study here in English paralleled our study of American history'. Writing was even more emphasized as we were required to write formal term papers. Our four year course culminated in a study of English literature with both reading and writing skills still playing integral rolls. Shakespeare reappeared in his Macbeth while other classics as Canterbury Tales by Chaucer were introduced. Our picture was completed by such popular works as The Pearl by John Steinbeck and The Call of the Wild by-Jack London. 14 MRS. MICHEI.E KAHRMANN B.A. English IV Future Teacher’s Association MRS.
