THE ORIFLAMME GERTRUDE MEISSNER Gert It's a good thing that there are no mice in the school or we would be minus one Senior. Gertrude simply won't go into any building where there might be a mouse. Gert can throw it , and how! By it we mean History. If in doubt, ask Mr. Wil- liams. We know nothing about Gert's future since she keeps everything to herself. EDNA MICHALOWSKI Rat-tat-tat-tat! It may sound like Chicago, but it's only Edna pounding the typewriter. She cer- tainly has all the requirements of a perfect typist. She has a line all her own, and when it comes to gum-chewing she certainly can sculpture the chicle. Edna. is at present on the thirtieth day of an eigh- teen day diet, but all in vain. EEE ELSIE MILLER Take a good look at this picture. Here you are beholding one of the quietest senior girls. Miss Kelley didn't know that Elsie was in her room until January. But don't think that Elsie is not popular because she is quiet. On the contrary she and her tennis racquet make hosts of friends. Ask her for a tennis date, boys. MILTON MOKRZYCKI Milt Whenever you see Milt, you usually see a mem- ber of the fair sex with him. This has earned him the title of the Senior class lady's man . During the rare occasions when Milt can't find anyone to entertain, he amuses himself by chewing on library slips. Milt's life ambition is to become an employ- er of good-looking stenographers. 2? JOHN MAGIELN ICKI Napoleon Napoleon is our authority on women and how they should be kissed. He says, When I gets a girl, I treats her rough and she's gotta like it or scram . Napoleon showed his school spirit by going out for football. Although he didn't make the team, he was the ideal S. R. H. S. benchwarmer. Nap says that some day he will be a great chemist. ELLA MAKLARY Ability runs in all directions, and Ella's carries hers to the tune of music. When the lights are low and the melody sweet, she dances along as if float- ing in air. Ability in an altogether different direc- tion is Ella's boast also. She can keep remarkably silent on all occasions. It's a mystery to us, these unusual combinations. LILLIAN MANDAW Lil Lillian hails from the great metropolis of Hel- metta. She lived in New York once, but that was before the E. S. B. 1Ernpire State Buildingj. Felix says that Lil is the prettiest blonde in the class. That explains everything. In school, Lil acts as if she had lived in Helmetta all her life, but outside of school it's a New York story. L31 El El WILLIAM MASLANKA Bill Would you think from looking at the picture that Bill can blush? It's true. When the girls address him, the crimson stoplights appear. He and Mr. Mazza are pals. They put on a regular act every once in a while and the class sits back and snores. But Bill gets revenge. He misspells Mr. Mazza's name in his report of the Commercial Club meet- mg. THE ORIFLAMME JJ X in PJ 'J RUTH MONDSCHEIN Meet the little Senior with the most sparkling eyes and animated face you've ever seen. When you think of sophistication d0n't think of Ruth. She's as demure as our modern girls are bold. As for the Honor Roll, Ruth always makes sure to reserve space for her name. There's danger in that smile, boys, even if it isn't meant to smite you. FELIX NAKIELNY Felix is the real Don Juan of our class. His curly, blond hair and blue eyes have caused the heart of many a Freshman girl to skip a beat or two. Felix takes his exercise by banging on the bass drum in the band, and as a slight diversion he p-rances around on the basketball court. Our hats are off to one of the most likeable boys in our class. FLORENCE NEWBRAND Flo Whenever we catch a glimpse of Flo, she has her mirror out and is either powdering her nose or combing her hair. We believe that she is the rea- son why the face powder companies do not go into bankruptcy. Nevertheless, we believe that Flor- ence personifies dignity itself. Well, this is certainly a prize characteristic and Flo possesses it to the nth degree. JOSEPH NEWMAN Joe Joe has a habit of slaughtering the deah auld King's English . Long live the King! Joe pro- nounces a word by repeating each letter several times, but it's not this fault. The reason? That old villain, Solomon S. Stutter, has claimed another victim. But stuttering has some good points too, because it allows the afflicted person to stall for time during recitations.
