Tradition plays a large part in any high school. There 'fare the traditional plays at the end of the year, the prom which is a timewhen there lisymuch worry and frustra- tion, and then again there's the yearly graduation exer- cises that bring tears tof the seniors who happen to be part of that graduating class. For many schools, the home- coming celebrations are tra- ditional, but for.SR it was only our fourth. Something that helped add variety to our yearly activities was,-the Raider Follies. This was a talent show which was a first for our school system and gave many students a chance to show their par- ticular talents. The talents ranged from various baton acts, to an invasion from Marsdone to theftune of the Martian Hop. The plays that were presented this year were Mamie's Getting Married and A Time for Living . The latter of the two was the Drama Club's first attempt .at a serious play. It centered around a 17 year-old girl's attempt to adjust to a nor- imal life after suffering ather- vous break down and recu- perating in a mental h:oscpitalJ Thisrevealed many problems young people must cope with today iiflworder to try td become at well adjusted adult. T The play' lvfamie's Getting Married was a comedy based- on interfering- rela- tives' trying to help a young girl fMamieJ find the perfect mate inorder thatwshe woqld nfit become -an fold maid. The fun begins when every- one's ideal selection for 'Mamie appears at the same time iiiuchl td her surprise. Butterflies are Free was the 1973 prom theme. The gym was beautifully deco- rated with mechanical, brightly colored butterflies and the whole effect was set off Myvith My a gorgeous waterfall. M Homecoming festivities were off to a good start by honoring the class of 1970. Their past record was brought to the surface and held sweet memories for all who were involved. Then came the annual crowning of the queen and princess, who in this case were Resa Williams and Vicki Rohrig. The master of ceremonies for the evening was presi- dent of the Student Council, Dick Fuehrer. Graduation held more meaning thant' most this year. The class of 1973 has discovered some- thing far .greater than the' usual reading, writing, and arithmetic. It seems as though I-Ie came' into our lives as quietly and quickly as some people let Him escape. 'T it it K If you haven't decided whornfl refer to, it is the Man in our lives, Iesus Christ. We, being different from most, to succeed in life and have discovered the only way is through the patience and love that can come from above. Without this We would be nothing, Our only regret is that we did not find Him sooner. Yes, there were many tears shed. for various things.
