As we look back on 1972-1973 school year, we notice the pres- ence of tradition as well as the many changes that have taken place here at South Ripley. We have attempted to convey this through the theme of our 1973 Confederate, Fragments of New Freedom. Tradition was evident in many ways from traditional clubs and organizations to sports to special events such as the prom and the play to class activities including the chili supper, steak supper and junior concessions. Change was visualized physi- cally, mentally and spiritually. Physically, through the changing of the dress code as students 190 Publications staff ff' -av aa! Mentally, many students excelled as more honors and awards were given at graduation than ever before. Spiritually, many lives have been changed as Iesus Christ came into their lives, Through His love, South Ripley was united in Chris- tian fellowship. A large number of people have contributed to make the 1973 Confederate the best ever. Our thanks goes to Larry Glaze, year- book representative from Para- gon, our photographers-Bud lef- frey from Beverly Studios who many times went beyond the call of duty, and Ierry Hunter for his patience and willingness to take - pictures whenever we needed him and spent many long and late hours developing pictures, Peggy Cox, our outstanding layout edi- tor, for her never ending efforts, she was always there when we needed herg Owen Menchhofer, business manager, for taking charge of the business end of the yearbookg Mrs. Moorhead, our ad- visor, who gave up a lot of her time and encouraged us when we were down, and all the members of the Confederate staff who helped us get it together. Although fragments of tradition still remain, throughout the year 1973 many changes took place and a New Freedom was achieved. Editors Darla Fuehrer Teresa Linkmeyer
