One of the biggest jobs of a yearbook staff concerns that of selling advertising. This responsibility is a large one in that almost our entire yearbook is financed by the selling of ads. The advanced journalism class which consists of all seniors is divided into groups and assigned certain sections. The areas covered are Aurora, Lawrenceburg, Milan, Holton, Friendship, Madison, Batesville, Dills- boro, Osgood, Greensburg, North Vernon, Hanover, Cross Plains, and Versailles. Then with great courage they all strike out to their areas to convince their cus- tomers that advertising in the yearbook could only be an asset to their estab- lishment. Once in a while they find themselves batting their heads against brick walls. All in all though they usually find themselves in very pleasant surroundings. After all, the teenager makes up a large percent of the buying public. When you stop to think about it, who buys more clothes, cosmet- ics, and hamburgers? The next thing they must do is fill out ad receipts and find out how the advertiser would like his ad in the yearbook. This year the pic- tures for the ad section were taken by a professional pho- tographer. For this extra ser- vice our thanks goes to Ierry Hunter and Beverly Studios. The top advertising sales- men for this year were Darla Fuehrer, Melanie Hatton. Christy Hunger, and jane Spencer. In addition to selling ads, dances, the Raider Follies. and subscriptions have made it possible for the 1973 Confederate to be published. As you can see, putting out a yearbook is not as simple as it may seem. There is much behind the scenes work that goes on in order that our yearbook might be the best possible. And now we can only ask- help support our supporters!
