SENIOR CLASS ADVISOR MISS ROBINSON The class of 1954 is greatly indebted to a wonderful friend whose kindly advice and help have shown us the way through these four years at S.P,H.S. The best of luck to you, Miss Robinson and we'll never forget you. CLASS 1954 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Prexideni CHARLES SAWYER Vire Pmfiderzl Serretary Tl't'1I mrvr RICHARD SMART SYLVIA JONES LOUISE LEEMAN BRUCE PINEAU CLIFTON BURROXVES BARBARA BAKER DIANNE WOOD CHARLOTTE PENDELL As graduation nears, we look back over these four eventful years to that September morning in 1950 when we entered these halls. We were nervous freshmen and vividly green. After one year of playing, studying, and contriving new and original ways to drive teachers nutty, we became experienced sophomores. As sophomores, we continued our antics of trying to defeat the purpose of teachers to educate us, and were frequently spoken of in connection with members of the veg- etable kingdom. Ah yes, juniors at last! Now having reached the status of upperclassmen, we pre- sented ourselves with shiny class rings. These beautiful rings were enjoyed by all even though, for some strange reason, none of the boys remained in possession of theirs for very long. To follow this up, we had a junior Prom which turned out to be a howlin' I' success. Now, at last the apex of our high school years had been reached. We were SENIORS! Now, as in the past three years, Charlie Sawyer was chosen as our cIass president. Charlie has the distinction to be the first boy in ten years who captained his class for four continuous terms. As graduation draws near, each and every Senior thinks back, not to those horrible mid-year and final tests or to the scads of homework and comebacks, but to the friends made, the knowledge gained, and the all-around fun the class of '54 had at S.P,H.S. The wails of I'm hungry! coming from jane Gill, Roberta Kinney, Sally Pom' eroy, Grant Quirk, Harvy Sueltly, and Eddie Riley, and our class advisor, Mrs. How- ard, weren't from being underfetl at home. They had to give up their lunthtime every day for a week to choose our class rings. The track team started the season with only six lettermen, but a promising squad of underclassmen. The team first traveled to Orono, and lost the first meet to a powerful Maine Frosh team. However, George Patterson, a sophomore, won the mile, and Bob Crockett, another sophomore, placed second in the 1000! These are but two of the fine performances turned in by the track team this year. As this book goes to press, the team is about to run the six-cornered meet. Although the team is an underdog, it should make a good showing. Although the team will miss its Senior members next year, because of the numerous underclassmen, the outlook for a winning season in '55 is excellent. JACK CARY DON BARTON SQ... -1 .1 ..- ,,.
