as ff as Lakai fir ffl Yagi f 4 1 i ia Ai HOMECOMING-This word had many different meanings this year. For the alumni, it meant returning to their alma mater for a night of reminiscing. For the sports fans, the football team shut out Burns 13-0. But for 16 lovely ladies, being a member of the 1981 Homecoming Court is unforgettable. There was shopping to be done, a special dinner was attended, and practice with the band for the special night. Spirit week was a huge success. Students enjoyed participating in Stomp-'em, Lick'em, Boy hates Girl, and Girl hates Boy days. Friday began with a school assembly. Each girl, dressed in a formal gown, spoke of South Point in a speech entitled Spir'it,'. Their senior football player escorts were dressed handsomely in suits. At the football match, emotions ran high. As Joe Messer began his presentation of the queen, the crowd quietened. Then, for the second time in the history of the school, the voting was proclaimed a tie!!! Miss Denese Harper and Miss Marci Holt were both crowned 198 1 Homecoming Queen. With tears in their eyes, they each accepted a bonquet of roses, a diamond crown and the traditional uQueen's sash . These two girls will always share this special day. gw.mr 'H a

Barbeque October 23rd was a big day at South Point. The Senior Show took place in the evening and, yes, it was BARBEQUE TIME again. This is a total student and faculty project which raises money for our school. The profits are divided between the different extracurricular activities and clubs. Two weeks prior to the barbeque, students began selling tickets. As an incentive, if a student sold seven tickets, he was able to attend the movie The Way We Were , but that wasn't all! The three people that sold the most tickets after the first week were given two tickets to the Journey concert at the Coliseum in Charlotte. This was one of the top conce1'ts of the year and was a total sell out. Through out the day students delivered barbeque to local businesses and many people munched outl' in our own cafeteria. This year the profits were abundant and so was the fun! a., f ' f 4 age 1. ag t gg. g i gg Yew an T ky ,wg , :Eh K, , WU v J i, ZW i Za Elia 4 if 5- iiiiii .ww as it W ' we W ml! t'tii . if i gum an y ., QQ iv lg i W if if .X iiits 1 Look out stomach, here it comes!
