The experience Coach Rudisi11's team possessed accounted for much of their success, and success was dominant throughout the season. The Running Raiders took the Southwestern Conference for the fourth time in seven years, and then advanced to the sectionals where South Point finished ninth out of twenty-two teams. The top runners were the heartbeat of the excellent season. Pat Sadler was voted Player of the Yearl' by the conference coaches. Tim McAndrew, Steve Ray, Wayne Berry, and Pat Sadler made All-Conference. The factor that brought it all together was Coach Rod Rudisill. His fine coaching and encouragement has again made South Point respected in another sport. His dedication was recognized when he was voted the 1981 Coach of the Year in Cross Country. Girl's Tennis '81 lei f ' J W. ' I.. Ali if r .'. 5 'n f Lx. 5 , , K. 0 The record of the 1981 Girl's Tennis Team did not reflect their efforts. In an awesome conference, hard work and the desire to win could not make up for the overall lack of experienced players. The small size of the team, seven members, was a problem that had to be conquered by energetic players. Kelly Oates, Courtney Peach, and first year Hope Love were the Senior team members. Kim Buckner, the only Junior, displayed talent and showed much promise for next season. Coach Leonhardt also placed three junior high players on the team in hopes they will bring experience when they make their move to South Point. sg ii if A.. aiu , l i I I U ..,.qnnunnn-uv-. fs .
