The South Point Raiderettes enjoyed a successful season in softball last spring 1981. Under Coach Martha Jones they finished the conference with a 10-3 record which was strong enough to put them in the number one spot for the Westem Division of the Southwestern 3-A play. The girls entered the playoffs against East Rutherford and won the first of the three game series. Their offense suffered and they fell to the Cavaliers in the next two games. Even though the season ended earlier than the team expected, their consistent ability at the bat and in the field displayed truly a number one team. For the second consecutive year Scarlet Ford received the Most Valuable Player award. Debbie Abernathy was named to the All-Southwest Conference team and eamed the highest batting average trophy.
