Boy's Track 981 The 1981 Boyls Track Team was small in number but big in desire. The whole team worked and showed a great deal of improvement as the season progressed. Determination and talent made many ofthe events constantly successful during the season. Keith Young, who was awarded the most Valuable Player, was the most consistent scorer for the team. Keith Young, brother Akron Young, Derrick Howard, and Mark Mixon formed a relay team that scored well in every match. Derrick Howard also qualified for the sectionals in the long jump. The distance runners were all underclassmen who improved and promised to be the best in the conference for the '82 season. The distance runners were Tim McAndrew, Patrick Sadler, Wayne Berry, Craig Hunnicutt, and Robert Lane. The hardest working members of the track team were the pole vaulters. David Wilson, Buddy Wiggins, and Ronnie Billets showed much improvement in every meet. David Wilson was the conference champion in the pole vault event. The field people, Jeff Smith, Bany Tomlinson, Danny McKinney, John Howe, Arnold White, and John Karr picked up some valuable points for the Red Raiders.
