uOne smile 1S worth one thousand words. S w The Student Council Association is the basis for most school activities at South Point. It offers the chance for students to experience a democratic governing body like that of the United States as well as offering the opportunity to better the school and to have a say in the governing laws including the election of officers each year. This yearls association was comprised of homeroom representatives as well as the officers. The job of those students was to plan various activities for the student body including dances and the Christmas program for the Elementary School children. Top: Even High School students act like kids when it comes to Christmas. Beta Club The Beta Club is a non-secret, service organization which promotes achievement and leadership. Membership is based on commendable attitude, honorable character, and an academic average of ninety-three. The Beta Club is responsible for displaying the flag on campus. They also held a walk a thon for the South Point Lifesaving Crew. During the past year the Beta Club sent representatives to Burns High School for the District Convention. In the spring, the club traveled to Greensboro for the State Convention where N.C. Vice President Randy Lineberger led one ofthe conferences. All the members enjoyed attending and meeting people from across the state.
